There's only one place and one program in the world for embedded developers who want to learn Android™ skills. And it's here at DESIGN West 2013.
Our exclusive, two-day Hands-On Embedded Android™ Workshop teaches you Android™ from an embedded perspective. You'll learn what needs to change with Android™—and how you need to adjust your own mindset and skill set as an embedded developer—to successfully employ Android™ and speed development of embedded systems applications that are not cell phones.
We'll take you from "Hello Android™" through a progressive series of hands-on exercises with the nexus7 that conclude with a data stream that is acquired inside a Linux kernel device driver, post-processed in a user program, and displayed and controlled from Android™. We will also introduce Linux concepts and APIs that augment Android's shortcomings, particularly those involving real-time performance and distributed computing. Learn more
We'll introduce you to debugging techniques for Android™ and Linux, as well as kernel-side debugging tools including a demonstration of ftrace. We'll conclude with a demonstration of the Android™ accessory concept, a hybrid approach to embedded Android™ whereby rather than designing the whole system, developers deploy an "accessory" that connects to any off-the-shelf Android™ device. Learn more
UBM Tech will award a certificate to students who attend the full two-day program.
Computer Requirements: A WiFi enabled laptop with any OS is required for this program -- a tablet will NOT be sufficient.
This program has limited seating and you must be pre-registered for the Android Certificate Program in order to attend.
